Protestors have blocked major roads in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, putting up barriers and burning tyres, following news of Asia Bibi’s acquittal. Protests are also being staged in Karachi and Lahore.
The Punjab authorities have banned people from gathering in public places.
The first protests broke out within minutes of the ruling by the Supreme Court to acquit Asia Bibi. The protests are being led by the right-wing political party, Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan, TLP.
