Laraba

Laraba spoke to her husband over the phone for the last time – minutes before Fulani militants shot him dead.

Laraba’s husband was martyred for preaching the gospel

Reverend Ibrahim Isa had won many people for Christ – and was determined to continue preaching the gospel, despite repeated threats on his life.

A pastor who was himself from a Fulani background, Ibrahim worked as an evangelist in the Kpachudu community, near Jos, in Nigeria’s Plateau State. He had worked among Fulani Muslim groups and had seen many come to faith in Christ.

On the day of his martyrdom, Laraba and their children had been staying in Jos. Ibrahim was at their village home and was planning on doing some farming on their land. Laraba spoke to him over the phone at about 6:30 am. Barely 15 minutes later she received a phone call from a church member, calling her to the village. He had been shot dead.

A community leader told one of our partners, “He had been warned several times that he was possibly going to be a target for killing by the Fulani Islamist militias ravaging the villages in Miango. But Ibrahim said that he had a duty to preach and bring the gospel to his people.”
