Appeal – Broadcasting the Gospel in restricted countries

In many countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Egypt today Christian TV and radio broadcasts are a spiritual lifeline for local Christians and their families.

For Christians like Fahad* and his wife Nahal* who risk their lives daily to follow Jesus.

Fahad and Nahal became Christians a few years ago and at that time they began to tune in to the Operation Angel** radio station in Afghanistan to learn more about Jesus.

After a hard day of working as a labourer, Fahad and his wife sit together with their small radio to listen to Christian worship and other programmes that explain the Bible or answer everyday questions they might be wrestling with.

Life is so dangerous for Christians in Afghanistan that they have to do this in secret. They can tell no one. The radio is their only contact with other Christians and the small yet growing community of believers that are reaching out for help to the station.

Often Fahad says that “The radio is our church.”

I thank God for believers like Fahad and Nahal and for Release’s partners who are discipling and encouraging them to grow in their faith through Christian TV and radio programmes.

And, today I would like to invite you to help our partners who broadcast the gospel in ‘closed’ countries or in remote areas of the world by donating to Release.

Will you send a gift of £15, £25 or £50 to Release to enable our partners to share the good news of Jesus and to disciple believers like Fahad and to share the good news of Jesus?

Here are just a few things that your generosity can make possible:

  • £15 could help towards the production of a one half-an-hour TV or radio broadcast that takes God’s word into the homes and hearts of thousands of people living in places that are hostile to the gospel.
  • £25 could be used to equip ten or more new Christians with discipleship materials and follow-up resources in their own language, helping them to draw closer to God.
  • £50 or more could ensure that Christian TV programmes produced by Release’s partners can broadcast the gospel and encourage local Christians to grow in their faith.

In the words of one of our partners: “The need is simple: we can witness for Christ, disciple new believers and offer pastoral care to churches in closed countries. Radio, satellite TV and the Internet are vital tools for meeting this need.”

Thank you so much for helping to share the gospel and provide Bible teaching to Christians in places where persecution is a daily reality.

Yours in Christ’s service,
