Take Action

According to church tradition, June 29 marks the martyrdom of the Apostle Paul. We are currently working on our plans to commemorate this year’s Day of the Christian Martyr on that date and will be sharing details of the event here. Please do check back for more information or sign up to receive our Monthly News Update Email which will bring you all our news and details of events throughout the year. In the meantime you can still watch our 2020 event below.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our 2020 Day of the Christian Martyr event.

Don’t worry if you missed it, you can watch the video of the interviews we showed with Rashin and Amir Soodmand from Iran and Paul Lipdo from Nigeria below:

June 29 is the day many churches remember the martyrdoms of the Apostles Peter and Paul.

We will soon be updating this page with details of what we will be doing this year but in the meantime you can find out what we did last year below…

On this day Release invites you and your church to join with thousands of Christians in the UK and around the world in remembering modern-day Christian martyrs.

This year we will be hosting a Facebook Live event at 7pm on Monday June 29th. This event will feature moving interviews with a partner and ministry contacts of Release. You can watch the event on Monday evening here.

Unfortunately due to the coronavirus restrictions this year we are not able to post out our free resource pack. However, you can download all of the resources using the links below and still make the most of this opportunity to honour and remember those who have given their lives for the gospel.

The Resources Pack contains a brochure and Prayer Cards which you can download to help you plan your day.

You can also download this Powerpoint of readings, sermon headings, songs and prayers to support your Day of the Christian Martyr presentation. Simply delete the items you won’t be using. You can also shorten some of the songs, if you wish.

PLEASE NOTE: If it is not convenient to commemorate this actual day in your church calendar then please do choose a day of your own choice. We will be leaving this page on our website so that you can continue to download the free resources above that we have prepared for you to use in your own Day of the Christian Martyr service.

A Prayer For The Families of Christian Martyrs

Almighty God

I pray today for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being oppressed, persecuted and abused for their faith just as Jesus was.

Comfort and give courage to Christians in countries such as Nigeria, Eritrea, Pakistan, Egypt and India where many are experiencing physical harm, intimidation and unjust imprisonment at the hands of their oppressors.

Our heavenly Father, thank you for welcoming into your arms all Christian martyrs who have given their lives because they refused to stop sharing the gospel and living out their faith.

Heal the hearts and minds of those who have lost loved ones because of persecution and restore them to full physical and spiritual health.

For those who persecute my brothers and sisters in Christ, I pray that their hearts will be touched by the wonderful faith of those they attack.

I pray also that they will open their hearts to your love.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
