Archbishop Benjamin Kwashi is on a speaking tour of the UK with Release International. He told BBC religion editor Martin Bashir: ‘As a priest, I have done far more funerals than we have done naming ceremonies or even weddings.

‘The Christian Association of Nigeria has the statistics of nearly 6,000 people killed. The people being killed are just the helpless poor.’

‘And purely because they are Christian?’ asked Martin Bashir.

‘Yes.’

‘Without a doubt?’

‘Without a doubt at all,’ the Archbishop replied.

The Anglican archbishop of Jos, in Plateau State, was speaking on the BBC’s flagship Today programme on November 22.

A partner of Release, he has also given interviews to Premier, UCB and TWR radio stations, the Global News Alliance and on Revelation TV.

He is speaking in churches in England and Northern Ireland until November 26, 2018.
