Release International is holding out this challenge – walk 100k to support persecuted Christians.
Release is staging walks this summer across some of the most beautiful parts of England.
One regular walker who has taken up the challenge for Release is retired Anglican priest, Andrew Procter.
Andrew is now a therapist for a counselling agency and his daughter has worked for Release. This year Andrew will be heading out along the Thames Path for his fourth fundraiser.
So what inspires him? ‘I’m motivated to keep up these sponsored walks for Release because their support for persecuted Christians is ever more needed.
‘I enjoy the walks and it’s upbuilding to meet others who walk with you, share faith stories and be companions on the way.’
Andrew is keen to raise more funds for the work. He’s also hoping to generate awareness and draw in new supporters.
‘Least we can do’
He adds: ‘I would urge any Christian to read Release’s magazine or go to their website. What you see will make you realise that every day around the world ordinary Christians like us are at risk from physical violence, intimidation, discrimination and much else. I regard it as the least we can do to support them.’
