Could you speak in local churches on behalf of Release International?
Volunteer speakers play a key role in raising the voice of persecuted Christians and calling UK Christians into fellowship with them. They are expected to speak on behalf of Release International at least four times a year. As they do so, they encourage the UK church to pray, to give, and to get involved.
We value our volunteers and will commit to pray for you on a regular basis. We run a free in-house training programme for speakers and send any resources you need to complete this, free of charge. You will have on-going support from your regional Engagement Manager, who will assist you in securing speaking engagements. We will provide you with volunteering information, our Volunteers’ Handbook and a quarterly newsletter. We also provide reimbursement of any agreed expenses.
So how do you become a Volunteer Speaker?
You must be aged 18 or above;
You must agree with our Faith and Policy statements and our Volunteer Charter.
Just email us here and we will send you more information.
Once we have two positive references, one from your church leader and one from a friend who has known you for more than two years, we will arrange an online video call with you. We will discuss your previous preaching and speaking experience, as well as your existing network of Christian contacts in different churches. We will then discuss the in-house training programme. This covers the following topics:
- Who we are: the background of Release International;
- Understanding persecution biblically (our theology);
- Speaking biblically (using the Bible);
- Real faces, real places (telling the stories of persecution today);
- What next? (seeking a response);
- Putting it all together (an overall view of a speaking engagement).
Once you have completed the course you will volunteer alongside your regional Engagement Manager.
