to ‘sinicise’ Christianity.
A recent training meeting
for leaders of state-
sanctioned Three-Self Church
congregations urged them to
resist the influence of foreign
churches.
WEDNESDAY 20: Pray for
wisdom for individual church
leaders as they consider how
to respond to the communist
‘sinicisation’ programme.
Officials in Zhejiang province

Christian Church.
NIGERIA
THURSDAY 21: Pray that
Christians in central Plateau
state will know God’s
comfort and presence after
more than 150 believers
were killed there in the space
of three weeks.
FRIDAY 22: Thank God that
officials in Mangu area,
Plateau state, imposed a
curfew, following attacks on
Christian communities. Pray
that officials will do more to
curb the violence and unrest.
SATURDAY 23: Thank God for
the unity that our partner
reports among Christians
in the internally displaced
people’s camps of Mangu,
Plateau state. ‘No one is
talking about denominations
here,’ he says. ‘They are but
Christians!’
PRAYERS FOR CHRISTMAS
CHRISTMAS EVE: As we
recall how ‘there was no
room’ for Mary and Joseph
seeking shelter (Luke
2:7), we pray that God will
provide for those who are
made to feel like outcasts
because of their faith in
Him. Pray that He will
overwhelm them with His
love.
CHRISTMAS DAY: As we
celebrate our Saviour’s
birth, let’s pray that the
joy of the Lord and His
covenant promises will be
alive to His church today,
so that our witness causes
others to seek Him too.
BOXING DAY: Please ask God
to protect our persecuted
church family in Nigeria
and worldwide at this
festive time. Ask Him to
hide them in the shadow of
His wings (Psalm 17:8).
WEDNESDAY 27: Pray for
believers in Benue state
where more than 40
Christians were killed in June
and at least 37 died in just
three weeks in July. They
included six Christians in
Ushongo county, killed by
attackers on motorbikes.
THURSDAY 28: In Taraba
state, militants killed 20
Christians in Takum. Pray
