A major Scottish Christian organisation is to partner with Release International to support suffering Christians in Egypt.
The Church of Scotland Guild has announced that from 2025-2027 it will be supporting Operation Hope Egypt, a project serving Christians in Upper Egypt who are marginalised and who face extreme poverty as a result.
James Fraser, Release International’s Engagement Manager for Scotland, said, ‘We are so thankful to the Guild for choosing to support our Operation Hope Project. The Guild has such a strong commitment and enthusiasm for the projects they support. I am looking forward to visiting many of their local groups over the next three years.’

The Church of Scotland Guild is a movement within the Church of Scotland which invites and encourages men and women to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and enables them to express their faith in worship, prayer and action. With around 11,000 members, the Guild is one of Scotland’s largest voluntary organisations.
The Guild will raise awareness of Release International’s work as well as raising vital funds for the Egypt project.

Operation Hope provides families with basic living needs, such as beds, toilet facilities, kitchen appliances, food, and funds to help with construction of their homes. The project also helps families to establish micro-businesses, so they can begin to support themselves, and provides spiritual care through regular visits and discipleship programmes.
