The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:9-10
Adite* and others at All India Christian Council (AICC), a Release International partner, are loving and caring for the multitudes of displaced Christians from Manipur.
And today she is inviting you to join forces with her and others by sending a Christmas gift to Release International.
Will you give £25, £50 or even £100 today to help oppressed Christians like Thumleima* and her family?
Thumleima is a 17-year-old Christian girl from Manipur.
She and her brother lived with her parents in a small village 10 hours’ walk from the major city of Imphal.
Thumleima’s parents are unskilled daily labourers who did not have a chance to go to school or find better jobs because of the ongoing oppression they experienced in their community.
They lived in a modest, thatched roof house and relied daily on God for their survival.
When Thumleima’s family heard about the violence that swept across Manipur in May 2023, they were extremely anxious that the violence would reach their village.
Hoping to spare their children’s lives, Thumleima’s parents sent her and her younger brother over 1700 miles away to Hyderabad where they would be housed and supported by Adite and others at AlCC.
After a week of travel these young people arrived in Hyderabad where they were greeted by Adite and others at AICC who embraced them.
‘Thumleima, her brother and two of their friends arrived here with torn dirty clothes, no spare clothing or shoes, and hungry,’ said Adite. ‘But we immediately took them to an AICC home where they got cleaned up, ate a nice meal, and received treatment for some minor medical needs.’
Will you help persecuted and oppressed Christians like Thumleima and her family this Christmas?
Right now, AICC in India and other mission partners in China, North Korea, Indonesia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Somalia, and Iraq, are doing all they can to help thousands of Christians like Thumleima.
And their resources are stretched to the limit. They need your help to continue this precious work.
Will you help Adite at AICC and others like her around the world to care for persecuted Christians like Thumleima by giving to Release International today?
Your gift of £25, £50, or £100 will enable our local mission partners worldwide to:
- Provide food, shelter and education to children and young people who have witnessed violence and
have experienced oppression for their faith in Jesus.
- Enable persecuted and oppressed Christians to grow spiritually through studying the Bible, praying,
and fellowship with other believers.
- Gain the necessary skills to find employment in order to break free from poverty and oppression.
In mid-July 2023, just a few days after Thumleima and her brother fled, her parents fled their home too because of violent attacks on the village.
These persecuted and displaced Christians urgently need our help. So, please pray for them and send whatever you can give this Christmas.
The needs of oppressed Christians like Thumleima and her family are real and urgent.
By supporting Christians like Thumleima today you will be putting into practice the words of Hebrews 13:3:
Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
Thank you for caring for our precious brothers and sisters.
Yours in Christ’s service,
CEO, Release International
