Annual Volunteers’ Conference – Tech Tips

Using technology can sometimes be daunting. We want to get the most out of the experience, but may not know how to do it. We hope these tech tips will support you with your online Zoom experience.

How to change your name on Zoom:

  • Click the ‘participants’ button along the bottom of the screen. This will open up a new panel to the right.
  • Find yourself in the list of participants.
  • When you move the mouse cursor over your name, click on the three little dots that appear, and then click ‘rename’.
  • Enter your name into the new box that appears and click ‘change’.

How to change to Speaker View:

  • In the top right of your screen, click on the button that says ‘view’.
  • Select ‘speaker’ from the top of the list.

How to message Tech Support through the chat:

  • We will have someone dedicated to Tech Support on the day who will be there to answer any of your Zoom related questions.
  • Click the ‘chat’ button along the bottom of the screen. This will open up a new panel to the right.
  • At the bottom of the new panel you will see the default ‘everyone’. Click on that and select ‘Tech Support’ from the list.
  • Type your message where it says ‘type your message here…’ and press the ‘enter’ button.
