Prime Minister Theresa May has welcomed news of Asia Bibi’s release. She told the Commons during Prime Minister’s Questions: ‘The news out of Pakistan will be very welcome to her family and to all who have campaigned for her release.’
Asia Bibi has been on death row for blasphemy for eight years, until Pakistan’s apex court overturned the verdict against her this morning (Oct 31).
Mrs May also called for the abolition of the death penalty across the world.
