YOUR PRAYERS ARE POWERFUL: THANK GOD FOR THE RELEASE OF PRISONERS IN SUDAN!

We’ve just heard that Pastor Hassan Abduraheem Kodi Taour and Abdulmonem Abdumawla have been freed from prison in Khartoum today.

The two men have been in jail since they were arrested along with our Czech brother, Petr Jašek, in December 2015. In January, they were both sentenced to 11 years in jail – but have just been given a presidential pardon.

Praise God for the release of Pastor Hassan and Abdulmonem today. Thank God that the prayers of God’s people are powerful (James 5:16)!

Petr, Hassan, Abdulmonem and a fourth man, Pastor Kowa Shamaal Abazmam Kurri, were all charged with spying and ‘inciting strife between communities’, among other offences, after being wrongly accused of funding rebel groups.

All four are now free men. On January 2, Pastor Kowa was acquitted. Petr, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment, was granted a presidential pardon in February.

  • Pray for Pastor Hassan and Abdulmonem as they re-acclimatise to life outside prison.
  • Continue to pray for churches in Sudan who are on the frontline of persecution: those which face demolition threats, those whose members are being harassed or even detained. Pray that they will experience God’s peace and His joy in new ways.
  • Pray for our brothers and sisters in Sudan who are under intense pressure from a regime that appears set on eradicating Christianity. Pray that God’s word will continue to be preached in Sudan.
